I finally was able to meet up with Arianne from To Think Is To Create last night. I think she found me while reading the Chicago Moms Blog and she lives close by. We finally had the chance to have a knitting night together at Starbucks!
Arianne, let me just say that I think you are a delight and I am so excited to have a knitting friend! Here's a photo of the first knittybloggy club.
Hubby encourages me to go out, too, as he noticed how much happier I am after I get out and recharge my batteries. Even if it's just for an hour or two, it does help, I admit! And I make a point to be thankful for every time I can escape- no matter how short or long. I don't come back home saying I wish I could have stayed out longer. I just say how nice it was to get out. I am sure it's a blessing to my hubby to have a happy wife!

I tend to go insane from time to time due to all the joys of motherhood. About a week ago I was having one of those days so hubby told me to go get some coffee. On the way out the door, my 4 year old asked where I was going. I told him, "Where crazy women go." And dog gone it if he didn't remember that line and repeat it to the in-laws. Kinda hard to play that one off. :)
Yeah...I am so happy for you. I was having a rough week ..last week. and I realized I had not left the house in 6 days. No wonder I was going crazy (er) I made a note to myself. GET OUT OF HOUSE --at least twice a week in order to keep sanity. haha Tonight is my night out.
I'm realizing more and more that I need those moments too. I even talked about it today!!
I'm sure your husband love a happy wife, but I sure he love yo no matter what, happy help!!!
I love knitting, it's llok like fun doing it with someone else!
have a wonderful day!
Renee
How great is that to have found a new friend who enjoys the same hobby as you? That is great Steph!!
I am about to have my first real escape and while it has taken me a while to realize that it is okay for me to want that, I am a little nervous about it. Silly really because I know that I am going to enjoy it very much and will come home completely refreshed.
How fun! Knitting with a buddy is always more fun I think. And time out of the house, priceless!
How fun you got to get out and knit at Starbucks!!! Good coffee, good new friend and knitting!! I know you were in heaven!!!
That sounds like fun, I wish I lived closer, I'd love to come to 'Bucks to knit with you two!
It's funny how much two hours out of house can mean sometimes!
Looks like you were having a good time!!
I had such a nice relaxing time with you , Steph. Sometimes it can feel weird when you meet someone in person that you've already met online, its like, "how do I act here, like we're already friends or like we are just meeting?". But you totally put me at ease and I loved our conversation. You are totally adorable and I can't wait to do it again.
As for getting the time "off" from home, it was really needed on my end. The best part is that as I was leaving Sbux, I was actually excited to get back home to hubby and the kids. Its so nice to feel that way, and I need to make sure to always keep that balance.
You are so lucky to be able to meet with bloggers in "real life"! There aren't many (or any) that I know of that live near me.
Glad you made a new friend!
A coworker of my hubby's met me at Starbucks one night to teach me to knit. We spent about 4 hours there and I had a blast. Unfortunately, without her to fix my messes, the knitting didn't take. I was bummed!
It is good to get a night out, isn't it? I need one!
How fun to meet up with her like that!
I totally agree...we have to have our times to recharge our batteries...it makes us happier and be better moms and wives in the process! :)
Glad you got to get out! Sometimes it's so nice to have a conversation with a grown-up!
I TOTALLY agree that a little me time helps the brain...the problem is convincing the DH that!
SO NOW that you are recharged....go home and peel your flipflop off the kitchen floor and M O P ! ! ! L O L!!
Steph you KNOW I'm kidding...I loved the confessions o.a.r.b.h.k.!!!
I have yet to meet any of my blog buddies in real life. How fun!
Oh yes, little nights out -- even if to go grocery shopping alone -- really help. And what a nice outing this was -- a new friend, knitting and Starbucks. Does it get any better?
That's the fun of living in big cities, so many other bloggin' mama's there!
How fun for you both!
It is so important to have some girl time! I would love to start knitting because it just seems to theraputic...maybe it my next life when my schedule clears. Glad you could get away and have an understanding hubby.
I am SO jealous you two! I'm inviting myself along next time so you can teach me how to knit. (really, I'm serious ;) )
xoxo,
Ashlee
