Scene is 1994, newly a senior in highschool. Pictured here with my theatre buddy Shawn. We had spirit week and my favorite day was Hippie Day. I had a blast shopping for something to wear at the Salvation Army with my best friend Jen (and I think this is when we realized we should have been shopping at thrift stores all along.) I found this dress and shortened it myself, then made the matching headband. I actually ended up using this a year later for my costume as a hostess at Ed Debevic's in Chicago.
And I know- my outfit is more mod-60's than hippie, but whatever!

Looks like you haven't changed since high school! I'm the same way - perpetually 17, even after 2-1/2 kids. I suppose that's a good thing though, despite the dirty looks I get from old ladies when I'm out with my kids and not wearing my wedding ring...
ReplyDeleteLove it!!! Great pic.
ReplyDeleteAwesome photo (or should I say Far Out...)!?
ReplyDeleteThat headband and those earrings are fabulous! I want them!

You worked at Ed Debevic's? That's awesome. I went to Wheaton College, and went into Chicago a ton, but never, ever, ever went there. I wish I had.
ReplyDeleteYou look too cute!
It's "That Girl"!!!!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same thing as glass half full....Marlo Thomas, That Girl!
ReplyDeleteHe looks like catman you have to ask your mom about him. Or maybe she posted him once on her blog. Great picture.
ReplyDeleteDidn't That Girl have bangs? Maybe that's your answer to bangs or no bangs. Always enjoy it whenever you look younger than you are. I think you could still wear that outfit today. Of course in Boulder you can wear anything and get away with it.
ReplyDeleteCame from P&B Girls. Love the picture! Hippie Day makes it look older than it is (how authentic you both were!). :)
ReplyDeleteHow cute! You were dressed the way my mom used to dress in the 60's/70's when everyone else was getting their hippy on.
ReplyDeleteMy TT is up too! :)
Love the "knee" socks! Nice picture and good memories.
ReplyDeletehaha! Love that dude's hair.
ReplyDeleteYou used to host at Ed Debevic's? We used to go there all time in highschool!!! Funny. I totally forgot it was TT and I even have pictures!!! Geesh!
ReplyDeleteGosh, this feels like it was just yesterday. You always could work those thrift shops and make the clothes your own. We did have some good times, Village Discount!
ReplyDeleteLove the picture! Btw I tagged you!
