She's in physical combat for me, and I've made it my own declaration to go into prayer battle for her. While her son slept sweetly on the top bunk in my boys' room, I just cried and prayed.
I pray for his Mom's safety. For her heart. For his heart. That he knows God's love and that he doesn't suffer from any emotional harm while his mom is away. I pray that everyone serving our country can come home now. This lump in my throat hasn't gone away all week.
My, how I've seen life in a new perspective.
Well, thanks a lot. Here I am, about to go to a cook out to celebrate and now I'm all weepy.
ReplyDeleteThank you for showing me a new perspective as well.
You know, I have these moments in life when I see a story about a child gone missing, a father who died in a car accident, a starving child in another country...
ReplyDeleteIt always puts things into perspective. And, it reminds you how much you really need to take action in whatever way you can to a "cause" you feel strongly for.
Whether it's prayer, your time, your money, your passion...whatever it is.
I have many things I'm passionate about...from sick and hungry and homeless kids here and abroad, to mentally ill, to Austic kids ...etc.
I also have a strong desire to see our men/women --- mothers, fathers, kids, sisters, brothers...to come home safely...soon.
I will agree in prayer with you and hold your friend close to me in prayer...along with all the other great people serving all over the world.
I cannot even imagine what it is like for her and her family. I'm praying, too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a special role that little boy's Mommy is playing in keeping the world safe for us all. I'm sure she wishes every second of every day that she could watch him sleep in his own bed in their own house.
ReplyDeleteIt's so important to remember the sacrifices our armed forces are making - all for those precious moments.

It's great that he has you in his life ... isn't it neat how God provides even when parents are away protecting our country ... whatever position one takes ... God is still looking after those left behind. It's not the same as having mommy or daddy near by but they have people who step in and step up on their behalf. It is amazing how our perspective changes when we see things hit so close to home. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteYep! Soldiers are so impt to all of us, but once they have a family, we can realize more intimately the real sacrifices that they make for us. Makes me think back to the time that John was deployed after 9/11 and Zoe was just 7 mos old. It was the hardest year of our lives. I'm so thankful that he's here with us now.I pray that God will protect his little heart and fill his mama void until she returns.
ReplyDeleteNow I'm crying....
ReplyDeleteWe have a friend who's wife served 8 months in Iraq. Her baby turned 2 while she was gone. But before she left she made video of herself reading books, talking to Taylor, and every night no matter how tired, daddy would lay on the floor with Taylor and they would "watch mommy". It really breaks your heart, and just makes me more thankful that I got to see fireworks for the first time again tonight through the eyes of my baby.

What an awesome reminder that the people fighting for our freedom are not just nameless soldiers, but real people with real families.
ReplyDeletePraying for his mama right along with you, girl!!
ReplyDeleteHmmm.... That was a beautiful post! A wonderful reminder! It made me cry!
ReplyDeleteOh, that's so sad and heart-rending!
ReplyDeleteI've got that lump in my throat, too. I'm joining you in prayer for all of our military, especially the deployed and those with families.
ReplyDeleteOne of our close friends is in Iraq (ARMY), and his wife is pregnant w/ their first baby. They are letting him come home for a week for the birth, but then he's off for another 3-4 months. He's missed the entire pregnancy, and he won't even come home to a new born! If I think about it too much, I cry too much.
Thank God for all the prayers everyone here is offering.
What a tender post. Thank you for reminding us of what's important.
ReplyDeleteThanks for that reminder of how thankful I should be on a day to day basis, even wwhen I am sweeping the floor for the umpteen bazillionth time. How small that is in the scheme of things. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful post. When I think about the troops, I often forget there are moms over there. How hard must it be to have to leave your babies like that! Serving our country is definitely a calling. And I'm so thankful!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the reminder!
Now I'm tearing up...great thanks!
ReplyDeleteI always say this... You don't realize the blessings in live till your are forced to look around. We are blessed to stay at home everyday, we are blessed not to have to do one on one combat (though I must say I'd probaby kick butt!!), blessed not to have to go to a creek to wah our clothes, . . . . But I always try to pray for others that I will never meet or know that have so many hardships and I pray that the Lord watches over them as he has for me!
It's so easy for us to forget what's going on over there, and that there are people... real people... making huge sacrifices for us. Thanks for the reminder to pray for the soldiers and their families. It's the least we can do!
ReplyDeleteWOW - what a beautiful post!
ReplyDeleteI understand... I almost bawled at the parade on the 4th when I saw some guys in uniform, my brother goes to Iraq later this year.
ReplyDeleteOK, so now there's a lump in MY throat and tears in my eyes! But thanks for the perspective!
