I've bought juice boxes for my kids once in their lifetime. It was while we were on vacation and I thought a little Hi-C lemonade might be convenient in that little box with its cute little straw. Not so convenient later on when you're trying to get three little boys who are now all hopped up on sugar to sleep in the same bed in a hotel room.
I've seen the longing in my kids' eyes while they drink from their bottled water at the park and the other kids slurp from a Capri Sun or other box of sugar-water. I was quite skeptical when hearing about Wateroos and their fun animal themed containers. They look like a juice box, but contain only all-natural flavored water like apple, berry, & grape. No sugar whatsoever. And you can even get the original kind that is 100% purified water with no flavors.
I do think that the idea behind Wateroos makes sense: To get younger kids started on water early (before they become addicted to juices and sweet drinks.) Wateroos serves up a range of naturally flavored waters in colorful and playful kid-friendly drink boxes that have no sugar, artificial ingredients or sweeteners and no calories.
If anything it will make my kids feel cool and popular at the next playdate because they get to drink out of a "juice box" too. And then someday I'll eventually explain to them how unimportant it is to make other kids think they're cool and popular...

I think this is a brilliant idea. I would tend to lean towards the option of 100% water only, but either way this is better than hi-c or those other sugar drinks.
My son drinks water with no problems now, but when he goes to school this might be a great option so that he feels like he isn't missing out. Heck, who knows the little kids at school might get water envy and want some too ;)
You HAVE to introduce water early and stick to it. Bubbie LOVED water until my in laws introduced sweet tea around 1.5 yrs old and then we lost the game! I won't lose with the next child! No sweet tea! :) Hee Hee Love the Wateroos! Too cute!
Man! I just checked and there isn't a store that carries those within 35 miles of us. Poo. I am going an hour away to the coop this week...maybe they'll have them!!
Interesting! I'm going for good ol' water from the tap -- it's FREE! :-) But this sure beats those junky sugary "juice" drinks.
How clever! I love all these new tips to trick children into eating healthy. I was reading in a magazine that if a child doesn't like wheat bread (just because it's brown) toast it and they'll never know! Tell them it's toasted white bread, ha!
That's a great concept. I still think I'd have a hard time paying for it, lol. I found some super cute kid canteens for $1 that my kids love to tote around. Now they are the "cool" kids!
WHEN we do juice it's always 100% juice, but for lunches at school this would be a good idea.
This is a good idea. I'll stick with severely watered down juice or water in sippy cups. But this is good for some instances.
How much they cost..? I bought a good collection of re-usable water bottles, and that has done the trick for now (or Hello Kitty has :) for school, and we normally don't buy much juice, kids drink milk or water. Now during the summer we've been drinking more juice though, and those boxes would be great.
TIP: freeze the juiceboxes and they will be great coolants in the picnic basket and kids will love them when they are still cold! (they thaw in less than 15 minutes in the sun).
The press release says they cost $11.84 for 24 boxes (8 oz each).

Very cool! I wonder when they'll start selling them here. We're always the last to get things! :-(
Are they available in any grocery store? Or do you have to get them in a health food store?
AWESOME! I've just been buying really snazzy water bottles for Starlet to not feel left out of the game. And just recently I've found at our organic grocer's juice boxes called Vruit. Veggies & fruit juices with no added sugars or sweeteners. For those special occasions & outings only though.
Wateroos looks way cool!!
Roo has been really bad about only wanting juice out of boxes lately and I have actually dreamt of water boxes... plus these have her name on 'em, so she HAS to love them, right?
Unfortunately, they aren't at stores in our area (big surprise!) so I will have to do some digging.
Wonderful! We don't have them here, but you can print off a card from their web-site to give to your local store to ask them to stock them. I plan to do that. Or you can order online. Fabulous!! I'm going to steal this one from you to pass along to readers on my blog as well. LOL!
Their a great idea, we have something similar i think that my eldest will drink while out and about.
