I am tired. And when I am tired I am not a fun mommy. I am not very productive around the house either. So at the end of the day, I lie in bed thinking about what I shouldn't have said, how I could have handled things better. What else I could have/should have gotten done.
But by then, when I am lying in bed letting those thoughts swarm about, it's all in the past. What does replaying it over & over or worrying accomplish? Absolutely nothing.
If God is faithful to forgive, who are we to not forgive ourselves as well?
Remember today is a brand new day with a brand new start. Another chance. I am so thankful for second chances! (And third and fourth and eighty-seventh chances.)
What a thought for today!!! As I type the kitchen is a mess from last night (too tired to clean it up). Letting it go......
ReplyDeleteWhat a great thought! Just what I needed!
ReplyDeleteI often do that too. Wish I could go back and right something. It's a awesome thing that God forgives us easier than we forgive ourselves!!
ReplyDeleteOh man, that was me above!! I didn't notice that blogger was still signed in as "theFM!!!"
ReplyDeleteA great encouragement!
ReplyDeletesomehow this makes my laundry room seem a little less disappointing..:)

"New every morning." Thank you Jesus for fresh starts.
ReplyDeleteI'm right there with you!
Great post, thanks!
Carrie
This is a post everyone of us needs to see from time time:) I'm right there with ya on this:)
ReplyDeleteIt seems every now and then I stumble upon something I really needed to hear. Today was one of those times. Thank you for the post!
ReplyDeleteamen steph!
ReplyDeleteAmen is right! I'm doing a Bible study right now by Joyce Meyer - Battlefield of the Mind. It's all about thinking positive thoughts and not letting the devil in to give you those negative thoughts that can turn into strongholds.
ReplyDeletePraise God that He does forgive and loves no matter what. We all do the best we can!
thanks for the reminder, I too have a busy mind at night when I lay my head down.
ReplyDeleteSo very well said, Steph!
ReplyDeleteEspecially on a Monday... start the week off right! :)

Thanks for the reminder that this tired Mama needed to hear:)
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad I read this today. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI needed this too today...although, I mopped the kitchen floor at 9:00 last night before bed...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the encouragement, Steph. It is wonderful that God's mercies are new every morning!
ReplyDeleteI have no idea how many times I went to bed at night and laid there having the same thoughts but it was a lot. Thank goodness for new days and opportunities to start over, all refreshed, and have a better day.
ReplyDeleteAnd thank goodness little kids seem to have short memories! LOL
We can all use a little more forgiveness in our lives! More from ourselves than from others - we usually deprive ourselves of forgiveness when we blow it while others may have forgotten our mistake.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this! With all that is going on I am physically and emotional exhausted! I'm finding that my fuse it short and bickering is often when all I really want is just the opposite- to collapse into those arms I'm pushing away.
ReplyDeleteCan you come beat this in to my head for me? Something I need to be reminded of daily and today was the perfect day to hear this.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this post -- I had one of "those" days today and really needed to hear that.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, how I can relate to that! And praise Him, He IS faithful to forgive. And forgive...
ReplyDeleteSometimes, I am able to forgive others more easily than myself. We are our own worst critics. If we can forgive others for their faults and wrongs, we should be able to forgive ourselves. But it's a hard thing to do, so thanks for the great reminder. We're all doing the best we can!
ReplyDeleteThank. You.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful thought. I know sometimes I lose perspective as well.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree with you more!
ReplyDeleteI totally understand what you mean. The trick is to notice what's really important in life at the time it's happening.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I really needed to read this today@
