The Motherwear Breastfeeding Blog is having a Carnival of Breastfeeding: The Things They Say.
I absolutely love nursing my toddler. Gray is 21 and a half months old now and he calls it Boo. I don't know why he calls it that, but it's what he came up with and oh, does he love his Boo. He's lately been more social and in a sharing mood, so often he'll ask if he can give the "guck Boo?" (Gucks are geese but he thinks they are ducks.) Or "dog Boo?" I just tell him that's sweet he wants to share his Boo, but it's just for Gray.
We went to the county fair tonight. Upon this sweet sight, Gray yelled "Boo!" quite excitedly. I whispered "I feel ya, sister" to the Mama pig. Although I've never had 5 nurslings at the same time, there have been moments I've felt just like this.

So funny! And I love that Gray totally made the connection! I know I often felt like moo-ing when I was pumping... :o)
Oh how sweet. And plain adorable. I love that he wants to share "his" boo. Cute story...gave me a giggle.
Ha! So funny!
When my toddler was still nursing after my twins were born my husband told me I looked like a mama pig covered in hugry piglets. Niot a nice comparison if you ask me...
You should look up the poem "St. Francis and The Sow" - that's what I instantly thought of when I saw that photo!
I 2nd your "I hear ya sista!". lol
Especially in those newborn months, it's so easy to filk like only a milk stand.
I just wish we could do it as easily as the pig-laying there, no other work involved...not that I don't love holding my baby, but when you're exhausted, it's be nice to do as the pig does! ;)
So funny. Those are some clean looking pigs.
You know.. there's been times when I've been nursing Jack and he's all squirrelly and crawly... I kinda feel like this old mama dog we had growing up. Her name was Gracie and this picture reminds me of her. Her puppies used to crawl all over her too.
That is so sweet that Gray wants to share his Boo..
Too sweet. I love when they try to share!
My older daughter called it "nursing". Bad mistake. Nothing like a well-spoken 2 year old standing in line shouting, "I WANT TO NURSE!!!" to make for an awkward 10 minutes waiting to check out. With my 2nd, I asked my older daughter to name it and so now we have "nah nah". Not embarassing when my little one shouts that out in a crowd!
Yap I feel the same way too, thanks for sharing!
Thats so funny!
Hailey is almost 13 months and hasn't really learned that yet but she does try and grab every women that she shes when she hungry!
When we went to the zoo last week the momma monkey was feeding the baby and it was so cute, they hold them the same way we do when nursing!
How cute are those little baby pigs?!?! I've said that at a cow or a pig a time or two also. Look at her, just laying there!!
How sweet that he wants to share! :)
Check out that mama! She has that "spent" look on her face, all right!

How funny! If it was up to Gray you would be nursing five at a time, ducks, dogs, Gray and what ever else he wants to invite to nurse with him! LOL
aww, that is such a cute story. :) at least this mama seems to have it figured out as she relaxes while the lil piggies hungrily feed. :)
That is one of the sweetest things I have ever heard. Seriously! I'm at 7 months here with our youngest, and she's just starting to try to get to it on her own. :o) I woke up to her trying to climb over me the other day trying to get to where she needed to be. LOL
I always call DS my "puppy" when he nestles in for an early morning nurse-nurse. It's such a sweet and primative joy.
Oh my! Not quite sure what to comment!
How cute, i know alot of people get creeped out by a child being old enough to ask for a breastfeed but i love it. Rebecca does't ask but still signs and i think its the best thing ever
So funny!!! Yes, while I've only done one at a time it is a moment I feel I can relate to as well. Some day's it's all you can do!!!
ohhh boy do I feel like that on a regular basis. :) The little one on the right even somewhat reminds me of my son. hehe.
LOL! Having nursed nine myself (not all at once, mind you), I can totally feel for that pig!

Me too Mama! LOL! So cute. Zachary doesn't call it anything yet. He just signs it and giggles when I say Yes, we can nurse.
It's wonderful to see other mommies that breastfeed. I breastfed my son until he was 3 years and 4 mos, much to the chagrin of my mother. I think it's perfectly natural and healthy. Women all over the world often breastfeed until 5 yrs old. I don't know if I could breastfeed a 5 yrs old, but I will breastfeed my next as long as I can.
Awe...I grew up on a farm and I saw this all the time...Mason loves to go to the live stock auction w/ my dad and see all the animals.
Cute story!
I hear ya! Complete with the same zonked out position!
I wished htat I would have nursed longer. I miss it!
What a smart and tender-hearted boy!
I envy that sow. She knows how to nurse lying down, but I don't. Alas....
Funny story!

Gotta love the animals! I read your post minutes after I first saw this page - http://www.childcarriers.com/baby-carriers-are-truly-natural-parenting.cp - thought you'd enjoy it too (it's a gallery of babywearing animals, crazy cute!)
HA i actually laughed out loud here, my 2 year old calls it "boo boo"!
A little more discreet than shouting boob i suppose:)
Great blog.
