So you want to hear our engagement story... we met at church in the fall of 1998 and started dating soon after. Our first date was Friday October 9. We went to dinner at a little restaurant in town (nothing fancy) and then to see the movie Simon Birch. I cried. (At the movie.) Here's a pic of us just after we started dating. You think we're in love?
Within the first couple months we just knew. After dating about 3 months, there was a huge snowstorm and Jeff was stranded at my house for a couple days. (I lived with my parents at the time.) We really started talking about everything then. Soon I had a ring on my finger and was planning a wedding!

We were married Saturday October 9, 1999. Exactly one year from our first date. Aww. We honeymooned in Paris, France. And my hubby still treats me like his new bride even after almost 8 years. He's the best, I tell you.
Thanks to Pinks & Blues for hosting Throwback Thursdays every week!
That is such a sweet story! & I loved the pictures!!! Sometimes I wish that my fiance & I had anniversaries we remembered (lol)--we started dating in the 8th grade & dated on & off through high school, got back together the fall of my freshman year in college & we have been engaged for over a year now!
ReplyDeleteLove is so beautiful, thanks for sharing :)
I love engagement stories. How cool that you knew so soon. So romantic.
ReplyDeleteBTW, your cake is gorgeous!
You guys are such an awesome couple! And yes, what a gorgeous cake! Isn't it amazing to be in love with these guys of ours... and to still be treated like it's new... ahhh!
ReplyDeleteThamks for sharing your story, mine was similar to your but in fast foward, Dated 2 weeks, got engage, married 3 month after that, got pregnate 1 1/2 month after the wedding, So i understand when God is telling you to go for it it's the one you go for it.
ReplyDeleteAs I can see God has richily bless your marriage May His blessing be upon it for years to come!
Cool story, you are fast deciders! I cannot make fast life impacting decisions...mine get stretched out over months until I am slowly getting used to the idea up to the point that it is the obvious natural thing to do and it is no longer a real decision (e.g. study choice, moving decisions, job decisions, ...)
ReplyDeleteI love hearing people's stories! So sweet! :)
ReplyDeleteHow sweet! After knowing my husband for several years we started lunch dating in August of 99, officially in November and married in April. Sometimes, you just know. What great shots, thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteSimon Birch is a wonderful movie.
ReplyDeleteWe were married on Oct 9, 1999 as well! A great day for marriages, I think--we're still going strong after all this time also. ;)
ReplyDeletepolly
oh, we have the same anniversary, except my hubby and I will just be married three years this october 9. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your story. What a sweet couple you are.
ReplyDeleteYou know I am a witness to this....
ReplyDelete8 YEARS!!! WOW!!!
Blessings to both of you and to the boys that keep bringing you more joy on a daily basis. :) Love you!
I love your story. I think we got to meet Jeff that same week- at Adam's wedding? I'm so happy for you that you have such a wonderful marriage.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures! I didn't realize that you had dated such a short time! Wow!
ReplyDeleteYou two are so cute!
ReplyDeleteWow is that ever a huge wedding cake! I thought mine was big but it was only the size of the smaller three-tiered one on the right side of your picture. We had so much left over in our freezer until one day we discovered the freezer had quit and all our cake was history.
I really should get in on these throwback thursdays - they look like fun!
And here's a little trivia tip about the movie Simon Birch. It was filled in the hometown of one of my friends (in Canada no less!) and when I went to visit her I got to see different places that were in the movie. She was even an extra in the movie and you can see a big close up of her in the funeral scene. Very cool.
Oh, how sweet! (And what a wedding cake!)
