I love a good mix tape (and Icky Thump!) I have to be cautious to choose relaxing music on long trips because I find my driving reflects the tunes (i.e. The Hives or Distillers equals speeding tickets!)
ReplyDeleteTake it Easy by the Eagles. And Jet Airliner by Steve Miller!!
ReplyDeleteI always have to have some dance music, your mix is quite a mix girl!
ReplyDeleteIn our van Tobymac is a must thanks to my boys. :) But if it were MY choice I would opt for John Cougar, Eagles and Peter Gabriel.
ReplyDeleteOooh. #9 is one of my all-time favorites. Ane we danced to #16 at our wedding. Good taste, Slady!
ReplyDeleteYeah, that was supposed to be 'lady'. It's early...
ReplyDeleteJohnny Cash-Ring of Fire.
ReplyDeleteAnd some old school 90's stuff, like You Can't Touch This or I've Got the Power by Snap. lol.
Btw, I love that version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow.
You are lucky to listen to what you want! haha We generally listen to the Veggie Tales, Sunday Morning Songs or VT, On the Road again CD's. We also have a 3-CD set with Bible Stories and old school songs. But our MUST, must must have is an Enya CD for the sleepy time for the kids. It helps them settle down and relax.
ReplyDeleteUsually on road trips I do not choose the music b/c hubby is driving and needs to choose what keeps him awake or the kiddos need to be distracted from cabin fever. :o) Have fun! We are heading out on a road trip too!
awesome! I've been waiting for someone to post some kind of playlist, this comes in handy! I love Mat Kearney by the way!
ReplyDeleteOh ps. You said you were going on vacation to Longmont, that's so cool, just 10 to 20 minutes north of Boulder. If you guys need any advice things to see for not so much money, drop me an e-mail at julzluse@yahoo.com. I could give you my phone number too, but I don't want to do it on the web. Have a great vacation!
ReplyDeleteOh! I usually also have Jennifer Knapp's Undo Me. I love that song.
ReplyDeleteAnd Third Day's...what's it called? Don't You Know I've Always Loved You song. lol
Before we got our iPod my husband created a "road trip" cd for every trip we took. They would reflect where we were headed, time of year, and the music we were currently listening to. It was always fun to see what he came up with.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your mix!
I love your list. I like to add a good mixture of rock and mellow. I would definitely add a couple of Nickelback songs to mine and some Stevie Nicks songs. And I love The Dixie Chicks version of "Landslide". Oh and I love me some Nazareth and Doctor Hook.
ReplyDelete1. My Little Japanese Cigarette Case - Spoon
ReplyDelete2. Seven Swans - Sufjan Stevens
3. 2080 - Yeasayer
4. and all of the Innocence Mission's Christ Is My Hope CD.
lately, it's been "i don't feel like dancin'" by the scissor sisters! that song ROCKS!!!
ReplyDeletei always have to have a little B-52's. peppy good fun.
ReplyDeleteand some innocence mission is imperative. something from the album Glow probably. it's the most upbeat.
oh! and old R.E.M., like really old. pre-Green and Document.
The ultimate whistle-along song and one of my favorites from this year: "Young Folks" by Peter, Bjorn, and John.
ReplyDeleteThere ya go. Safe trip. Keep in touch...
Sounds like fun!
ReplyDeleteWow, that really is a good mix of songs! I have a bunch of mix CDs that I keep in my car at all times... I change them around from time to time when I get bored of one!
ReplyDeleteHave fun on your road trip!
Jane, Pinks & Blues Girls
I couldn't make just one CD, but here's a few songs that I just consider MUSTS:
ReplyDelete"To Hell with the Devil" -Stryper
"Why Should the Devil Have All the Good Music?" -Larry Norman
"We're a Band" -Audio Adrenaline
"Lost the Plot" -Newsboys
And of course, the Beatles, John Denver, and a BUNCH of others. Hubby and I are music fiends.
GREAT list!!! I am such a sucker for mix tapes. Guster, Jeff Buckley, My Morning Jacket, Willie Nelson. Fantastic!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so bad at this stuff. I'm more of a radio person to be honest. Still, Nora Jones is always good... it's the only way I fall asleep and don't worry about Jeff's driving! ;)
