Babywearing Tip of the Week

Keep a squirrely child out of the river - put them in a sling. Within seconds of approaching the water, Gray's feet are in.

Wearing baby or toddler is a great way to enjoy the scenery of life and still keep an eye on your little darlings.

I am wearing an Ellaroo Mei Hip in Osaka, available at
Lull My Baby. The Ellaroo Mei is so very easy to use- definitely wonderful if you want a mei tai, but don't want to mess with all the ties and straps. This one can be put on while holding baby quite easily- even while you are scooping your toddler out of the river.

Wow, I'm really going to have to get me one of those things! Mine isn't walking yet, but I can already tell she is going to be into everything!

Love the pic and love the sling! Does it hurt your shoulder? Can you wear it in only the hip position? So many questions!

Ok, so I was just thinking maybe I need to get one of those kinds of carriers because Ethan tries very hard to get out of the sling if he sees something he wants. Several times he has nearly fallen out on his head because I was trying to do something else and he decided he wanted down. Yikes!! Great pic!

I love, love, loved our sling, but there's just no way that The Baby would let me put her in it now - which is frustrating because there still are times when it would be handy!

LOVE this carrier. Not sure my hubby will go for the price tag, but I'm going to try my hardest to convince.

BTW, great pic!

Another reason I wish I'd had one of these when I had little ones running into water!

What a great vacation picture. I LOVE that sling! I wonder if Em would go for the sling again. It's been a while.

i love that sling! i like that it can accommodate a toddler.

can the baby sit facing out or only in?

is it comfy?

i'm expecting a girl in september, so i'm looking for new good baby wearing options!

This Mei Hip is just for the hip, but regular mei tais can be used for front, hip, back, etc. This one does not hurt my shoulder- it's quite comfy and distributes the weight nicely!

What a neat sounding carrier! I bought an Ellaroo wrap when I was pregnant but I just never got the hang of wrapping. I am a Mei Tai mama so I will have to look into the Mei Hip for this next baby. Looks like it is good for older infants that have head control, right?

Hi Stephanie~
Okay, so I have a question for you...
How does this compare to the Ergo Carrier? I have tried slings and carriers and they all seem to hurt my back and shoulders something fierce, so my friend rec the Ergo. Is this Ellaroo Mei comfortable? And this hip carrier is meant for an older child, right? I need to find a good one for my new baby, but one that will last as he gets bigger. I need help, and I figured I'd ask the babywearing expert!!
Thanks,
Christine

I just ordered my FIRST mei tai yesterday! I can't wait to try it out!!! I wish there were more women around here that used carriers and slings! I saw one in the library, but I lost her and now that I think about it, I don't know what I would have said if I could have caught up to her...

Wow, is that sling comfy? It looks it, the mai tei that I have is pretty comfy on the hip, but like you said, the straps are kinda a hassle.

That one is beautiful. I am getting the Ergo soon.. but the whole idea of Mei Tais is so much more appealing .. I think it has to do w/ the look ;-) so fashionable!

He does climb on my back for a piggy back ride so maybe he'd still get in one though...
