I do usually have the "nesting" instinct early on in my pregnancies and then that is the only time I get the itch to do anything organizational in our house. Lately though, with the weather so nice and the transition from cold-weather clothes to warm-weather clothes, I've been doing some major and much needed de-cluttering in our closets and such.
Just the other day I surprised hubby by cleaning out our downstairs
Bonus finds: enough gift bags for the next year of birthdays, our first aid kit (I knew we had one somewhere). Oh, and our fire extinguisher. That's a biggie.
By the way, Lori, I also found your Billy Blanks Tae Bo VHS! I just know you've been wondering where that was...
Dare to bare! The Bloggers Without Makeup contest has been extended- are you in?
LOL!!! I mean totally LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteI expect that Tae Bo VHS tape back immediately. RIGHT NOW!!Seriously -- give it to the Salvation Army or the mailman!
Ugh...I so need to clean out a closet, and we've only lived here a month! Somehow, everything that we didn't know what to do with got put in there, and now it's a mess already. Yuck.
ReplyDeleteAlso...no way on the no make-up thing. I scare people without it. LOL
Don't you LOVE finding things that will come in handy, like gift bags and such? What a great feeling!
ReplyDeleteI am getting the Spring cleaning itch, too... and I hate to clean. Go figure!
Jane, Pinks & Blues Girls
hmmm...when you are done with my house, head north and come to mine!
ReplyDelete:-) I need that nesting feeling!
Ugh, I hate cleaning but it feels OH SO GOOD when it's done. Way to go on getting organized!!
ReplyDeleteOh my do we have closets (and cabinets and drawers!) named Scary! I've been tackling some myself... the garage is next- yikes! I'm still laughing about the Tae Bo- maybe just because it's VHS ;)
ReplyDeleteKudos for cleaning that scary closet! That is so funny!
ReplyDeleteOh I can't wait to get all my stuff moved so I can go through and get rid of stuff! I want to do some major decluttoring! We've lived quite fine with all of our stuff in boxes for almost 7 months now...what are in all those boxes anyway?
ReplyDeletei just cleaned my linen closet, as well. i have to do it about once a year cuz it gets so crazy. thanks for the freecycle link!
ReplyDeleteNot only do we have closets named scary (just one right now, though), in our first house we had a whole room that I called the Scary Room! We had a 3rd bedroom that we didn't need and that is where we kept unpacked boxes, Christmas decorations, paint cans, and any other items that didn't have a home. Good for you on Spring cleaning!
ReplyDeleteI cleaned out our version of Scary (the attic) this week. I'm having a garage sale tomorrow. Anything that doesn't sell isn't coming back in the house. Its going directly to Goodwill!
ReplyDeleteDon't all family homes have the scary closets and junk drawers?
ReplyDeleteSpring cleaning time...
My problem is the piles of clothes and lack of space for them. We're between seasons so having spring/
summer and winter clothes in the mix, I'm running out of room!
We switched bedrooms with the kids and now our whole house is just wrecked. I'm going to have to spend sometime - but when? - getting everything put back together again. Stupid adulthood!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about the scary closet...only ours is a room. We've only lived here 4 months and there are still boxes in there!
ReplyDeleteWe have a scary closet too!
ReplyDeleteI love to organize and clean things out... even when I am not pregnant. I agree the transition from "winter" to spring is huge for me!!
ReplyDeleteI love a clean closet!
ReplyDeleteI clean things out very often, and like 2 days later they are scary again. We all have them, and we all hide them. LOL!
ReplyDeletedid you find my Bun of Steel video in there?
ReplyDeleteOh, I love that feeling of things being organized and clean. Because we are selling our house, it all is like that right now. Oh, how I wish it were all the time...fabulous!
ReplyDeleteMy mom cleaned my scary closet for me after I had my baby. Whew! She did such agreat job organizing it too.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the no closet cleaning for 7 years. We moved into this house in 2000 and just last week I cleaned out the closets for the first time. I am a horrible housewife!
ReplyDeleteI had to giggle at your disclaimer that you are not pregnant. Isn't it ironic that little actions such as that lead to that question? If you are having an off day and are feeling ill, get the cleaning itch or are suddenly turned off by food?
ReplyDeleteLOL. I know it feels great to have that closet clean. I use to love Tae Bo. I should probably blow the dust of off all my old tapes and DVD's *grin*
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
((Hugs))
