You Blog The Blog


I've had so much fun reading your comments and "book ideas" in my last post. I had an idea. Yeah, part of me would like a break from blogging today and also I just thought this might be fun...

I haven't heard of this before, but am not sure about how original the idea is or anything. I am going to let you all blog my blog today (as long as you keep it clean, um kay?)

SO, the next person that comments, please answer the question above you, and then ask a question or tell the next commenter what you'd like them to comment about, a fill in the blank question, etc.

Then that commenter will answer and then think up something for the next commenter. If you don't like the next question the previous commenter presented, then come back later and see what else might down the comment line for you.

Feel free to comment more than once- might be fun to see how long we can keep the comment chain going!

And, there might come a time where two commenters respond to the same comment at the same time. That's ok. The next person to come along will just keep the chain going.

Updated to add: I keep checking back to read your witty comments here- I don't think I'll be taking a break from blogging today after all! You all are too fun!

  2. In 2nd grade I went to get my first perm. I anticipated Farrah Faucet feathers but I looked more like Little Orphan Annie!!! The next day I wore my coat into class since the attached hood would hide my hideous hair, but my teacher demanded I take it off. Can you imagine my humilation when the tight curls popped out??? Recently I found my 2nd grade class photo -- do I dare make a WW post of it????

    I just uncovered something in a produce bag UNDER my veggie bin that resembles what I can only guess would result if a sea cucumber and caterpillar were to mate.

  5. Super Lightening Speed!

    I would read books in the time it took to nurse the baby, clean the bathroom while something's warming up in the microwave, and mow the lawn in the 5 minutes before my husband gets home from work! Nevermind never be late for church!

  6. Believe it or not, drop most modern technology! No computers, no TV. I love running water though! I'd move somewhere beautiful. I have just finished my dream board! I am trying to live The Secret and maybe this will help keep me focused.

    3 close friends from 3 different states inspired me to start blogging. I ended up being the one that blogged on the most regular basis though.

  9. The most embarassing (and scary and horrifying) mommy moment I have ever had was hemmoraging in the middle of the middle of the dispensary of the clinic I used to work at. I was there alone with my little DD who was ten days old. I got carted off on a stretcher. Ah, fun times!

    Think about it...I'd get to walk around feeling very important, but I wouldn't have to actually do anything!

  12. Oh, I can answer that one. Girls Next Door, the show with Hugh Hefner's 3 "girlfriends" (sorry, but I don't buy it, hence the quotes). My husband turned it on one night, I think to see if I would freak out, and sadly I wanted to see what those girls would do next. It's like my soap opera or something. I'm usually watching with my jaw on the floor because I just can't believe it -- but I don't turn the channel either. I saw an ad this weekend that there will be new episodes in March and actually got excited. Sigh.

  16. His kindness! Even when I am at my worst, he is so gentle and kind with me. Always forgiving and asking for forgiveness quickly. I can be my own worst enemy, and he is my kindest, loving encourager.

  17. Heehee, I don't have a nightstand... it would clutter my room too much. And my computer desk has *literally* 20 books on it to read. I have several cookbooks right in front of me now a vegetarian slow cooker cookbook and Nourishing Traditions to name two.

  18. Looking out at the rain outside right now from my desk in the office, I am thinking of my trip to Egypt in 2,5 weeks where I'll get my diving certificate. yeaaaah, that's where I'd like to be already.

    Or I haven't seen my cute little nephew in a while, so I'd like to babysit him right now.

  19. Oh funny! I don't have any hanging clothes!! They're all on the floor minus panties and other girly things, because we only have one dresser, and no houses out here have closets!!!! Ok, I would have to say the lingerie that my MIL bought me when we got engaged!!! Who wants that from your MIL?????? It's leopard print and everything!!

  21. How do I pick one favorite memory of my mother ?...Hmmmm, probably that she always came into my room when I yelled for her at night when I was little, even though she probably knew there was nothing really wrong. She always soothed me back to sleep :)

  24. I would say elementary, nothing to worry about and always discovering new things. Getting excited about pushing start on the microwave or something like that.

When we were in the Air Force...we had been married 3 years and had one year to go..we knew we wanted children...so we decided to have Madison while in the military...they paid 100% of it....we waited 8 years to have Miller...Scott says no more babies after he turns 40...he is 36 now...so I had just turned 30 and decided we needed more kids...I put my career in between the kids....now I want one more...and wished I had one in between Madison and Miller.....

    Next question......What was the one thing that made you realize you were in love?

  27. Hang in there. There is a time for everything, and this may not be the time for lots of sleep for you. If you're looking for advice on how to get him to sleep through the night on a regular basis, here's my story: My son didn't sleep through the night (5-7 hours straight) until about 11 months. This was mostly for reasons out of our control (health issues). I was zombie-ish from lack of sleep for 11 months. We read "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child" by Dr. Marc Weissbluth. Although I didn't agree with everything in the book, it really helped us tons! He became the best little sleeper in the world. Hope this helps, and hang in there - it gets much, much easier!

  28. Anywhere, that is tough... I want to say an exotic country but I love the US, so somewhere that my family can play outside 12 months out of the year and my husband has a job that is fulfilling to him...

  35. Oh yes- I seem to remember raiding their piggy bank not too long ago to get slurpees from 7-11. We always pay them back... usually!

    Chocolate but that is an easy response. Otherwise it's shopping, oh my - I'm predictable...

    So my biggest temptation is: Sneeking my kid's chocolate while shopping with their money from their piggy bank!

  40. I do not get embarrassed very easily so this is a tough one but I wanted to play!!

    Just recently I had one of those “out of the mouth of babes” moments when my son told my Aunt, “You should shave your whiskers!” Oi!

    I always like the “You know you are a Mommy when . . .” thing.

    So, you know you are a Mommy when you don’t think twice about grabbing your breasts in public to do the “which one is fuller test” so you know which breast to feed baby with.

    I had a recurring dream when I was a little kid, and I had it again a few months ago. We used to go to this photographer who's studio was upstairs in this really really old building. I used to have a dream that I fell through the floor.

  43. I feel like God has shown me His love in so many different big & little ways lately. Just looking outside at the cold and the snow, I see how He has protected us and gives us shelter.

    I see how my son celebrates his birthday today- seizure-free and "special diet"-free and the healing that has taken place in his body.

    There has been amazing provision in our lives lately that has only come from God. We are no where worthy, yet He still loves us.

  44. First thing in the morning Curious George is on. We're all still in our jammies, waking up and kinda cuddly and I'm having my coffee so I often find myself watching too. I think the theme song is catchy, we like to dance to it.

  45. God is so GREAT!

    2wks ago Saturday I prayed specifically for God to put the fire back under my husband and draw him closer. The next Sunday @ Church, God did just that! It was SO amazing seeing that fire in my husband, wanting to grow closer to Him!
    Since that Sunday, God has worked through a health scare with my MIL to draw us all closer to Him!

    When is the last time you Paid it Forward?
    During the Holidays, every Saturday we would go through a Fast Food Drive thru and pay for the cars food behind us.

  46. PTL about your hubby and your MIL. I like your idea about the drive-thru, I'll have to try that one. When God has spoken to me about taking care of something for someone I have to obey, it's usually for things like buying them clothes or groceries. We showed up at the door front of a family in our community going through a hard time with a month's supply of groceries right before Christmas. God pointed them out to us, it was His idea - we were just His feet and hands.

    To WORSHIP God, to fellowship with other believers, and some weeks, if I'm honest, when I'm struggling, I go because I teach the 5 - 11's, and because my son works the projector. But those days are very few!

  49. Right now I'm a mom-without-wheels. It's a long story. We sold our minivan because we were expecting baby #6 and planning to buy a van -- but in between selling and buying my husband lost his job. A friend loaned us a car for dh to drive to his new job in -- and it got totaled. But things are looking up! Some friends from church just GAVE us a Ford F150 for dh's work car, and my father-in-law is about to sell us a 12 passenger van for cheap! :)

    My dream car is a brand-new (or almost brand-new) 12 passenger van. Enough room for all our kids plus friends and groceries!! :Drool:

  50. My favorite flower is a simply a rose. Seems kind of like a dull answer, but i'm not much of a flower person, so I don't know the names of many fancy flowers. But I like roses because they don't smell too much - unlike Lilies which I loathe because they smell way too much!

  52. I don't remember much about life before kids! :-) My oldest will be 20 this month and my youngest is 15, so it's been a long time since I had no children.

    I guess the one thing I miss is being carefree. No matter how well your kids are doing, you always worry about and fuss over them. I would like to have a couple of days off . . . to not have to worry about my own kids or my nephews. But then, life would be pretty dull, wouldn't it?

  53. Well, this past weekend SUCKED. I didn't learn anything new, either - I try to every day. The highlight of my weekend? Being made fun of by my coworkers, without them realizing I could hear every word. Fun times. Not.

  55. My favorite comfort food is my mom's homemade Cheesy Potato Soup. Anytime I feel down or sick, she'll make a pot for me. It's chock full of onions, celery, veggie broth, potatoes, cream and sharp cheddar. Mmmmm.

    My favorite comfort drink is a Starbucks tall toffee nut latte with an extra pump of toffee nut. ;)

  56. What a fun post! Funny you should mention toffee nut lattes. I usually order a grande iced toffee nut latte with whipped cream for my once-a-week Starbucks treat, but now and then I get a carmel frappucino. I'm not much for hot beverages.

  57. Good question! I will never forget nursing and rocking my firstborn son Noah one night and being overcome with emotions realizing God loved us so much that he gave up his *only* son for us... could I ever do that? I held Noah so close and just cried. Wow- His love is Amazing.

    If all the kids are in bed, you aren't on the computer or watching tv or catching up on chores, what hobby or fun thing would you be doing?

  61. I love that I'm outgoing and am not afraid to try something new. I want my children to feel like they can reach any goal they set for themselves, even if it's really high. And a strong work ethic helps.
