Rowrrr!!

Well, I can't ignore that in just one week the Super Bowl becomes a super big deal around here.

I am not a fan of football. Or any sport really, to be honest.

The men in my house think otherwise. I am praying that Da Bears win so that there is peace and happiness in my home.

*UPDATED* to add that I do remember when the Bears were in the Super Bowl 20-some (gulp) years ago. We had "Bears" day at school all week and I think I used to even enjoy listening to the Super Bowl Shuffle!

  2. Aren't you in Indiana so you should be routing for the Colts??????LOL.

I'm totally not into sports either. Except for Ultimate Fighting, love that stuff. We're hoping the Bears win too, I guess. If I have to pick anyway.

I totally want that cream cheese recipe from Nicole!!!!

  3. We are Chicagoans by heart... way closer to Chicago than Indianapolis!

  4. Yes, we have to explain to everyone that NW Indiana is actually 'Chicagoland'. We get Chicago TV and news stories rather than Indy. Go to Chicago to do shopping and root for Chicago sports teams. :)

  7. I am a HUGE football fan. Every man's dream, then I marry a man that doesn't like sports! How the heck did I do that?!?! I have to watch hunting and fishing shows.

Last night I called a wrong number by accident. I said "I am SO sorry" and he said "that's okay, have a great day....GO BEARS!" I started laughing and said back 'GO BEARS!"

I was 9 when the Bears won the Superbowl. Monte is 9 now. It's meant to be!

And yes Ashlee. Me and hubby were just talking about the Superbowl Suffle. We both had a little record of it. We think they came from McDonalds. My boys said "what's a record?"

  8. Well, I HATE football, if a game is on while I'm around I'll go in the other room until it's over. But I have to say that we used to have season tx to the Colts when I was a kid, but I also come from "the region" so it would be hard for me to choose. I do think that the commercials on the Super Bowl are the best. I remember the Super Bowl Shuffle and how popular it was when I was a kid. So funny!

  9. Oh my gosh Steph. I REMEMBER being in Mrs. Bricker's class in 3rd grade and all the kids had to pile around the TV to watch The Super Bowl Shuffle. IN SCHOOL?! How was that educational? Anyway, it's funny how serious people take this stuff...and oddly enough, I celebrate my 30th b-day on Super Bowl Sunday this year! Needless to say, my family will not be celebrating with me as Bears games are not part of my b-day plans! Thanks for posting that video clip, brought back memories~

  11. Oh, gosh. 20 years?! has it really been? I'm gonna have to pay my homage to Chicago and put that on my blog this week. :)

  12. As a lifelong Indiana resident I shall now ignore your whole post LOL

Isn't it going to be a great game? Of course I want the Colts to win, but honestly, it's just so cool having both teams in the Super Bowl! (I grew up cheering for the Bears before the Colts came to town so I sorta feel like they are both the "home team" you know?)

And, um, oh my gosh did someone on your comments just mention Mrs. Bricker? As in Sweetser Elementry? Holy Small Worlds, Batman!

    Best Wishes!

  14. Haha- that was great. I remember my third grade class reenacting the Super Bowl Shuffle. It's so funny to watch it now. Man, I hope those men were paid well for that. GO COLTS!!! :)

  15. Hubby added some tid bits of trivia regarding the Super Bowl Shuffle...

Apparently they recorded this in August of 1985 before they even started the 85/86 season... meaning before they even knew they'd be going to the SuperBowl.

Some players didn't participate in singing the "shuffle" because they thought it was too arrogant to assume they were going to win (I actually think it might be a good way to hype yourself up, really.)

Anyway, they also didn't know who the "star" players were going to be at the time and that is why Walter Payton and Jim McMahon are clearly "dubbed in via blue screen" and not in the full shot with all the players. They had to go back and add them in. Too funny.

I bet you're so glad you know all this information now, too.

  16. I couldn't care any less who wins..but we will be watching! I am a Cowboys fan...so was really rooting for them. =( I will probably be going for the Colts though..because that is who the hubby likes!

  18. AWESOME...love the Superbowl Shuffle. I was dying to hear it again (ha, NOT!). But yes, I remember it well back in the eighties. It was all the rage, and we were even living in Nebraska at the time. I will always be a Cornhusker, but when it comes to the Bears we are loyal fans.

  19. So the Superbowl is this upcoming weekend? Good to know.

  20. Ok, everyone who lives in Indiana should be rooting for the Colts!! ;-)
