Drink Up!

The Motherwear Breastfeeding Blog has tagged me with a challenge to post about my water drinking container.

As I am now limiting my use of bottled water
(see a good post about it here from Flip Flop Mamma) I drink out of a glass most of the time- always with ice!- and I love this glass in particular!

I am a thirsty girl. I often keep water by the bed because I will wake so incredibly thirsty. And there is nothing like quenching that thirst, especially when it is water you are drinking. I am known for my morning glass of iced chai tea with rice milk, and I drink it out of this same glass... it's my favorite!

And all this talk about quenching thirst, I just have to throw in a verse that I will totally take in for today-

Isaiah 44:3 For I will pour out water to quench your thirst and to irrigate your parched fields. And I will pour out my Spirit upon your descendants, and my blessing on your children.

I challenge nursing moms Sheryl at Peanut Butter & Jelly Boats, Robin at Life With All Boys, and Staci at Just Add Coffee to post about their water containers... and if you want to join in, too, please do!

  1. My church is boycotting bottled water, actually! I like throwing a slice of lemon into my glass of water sometimes. Good post!

  2. I need to drink more water. I know it is good for you, I just don't drink it. I AM getting better though. I like mine in a plastic cup with ice.

  3. nice. I like lime in mine! :)

  4. Coffee cups. Just coffee cups, 24/7 over here!

  5. Hmm. I just read the blog post you linked to.
I still have issues w/ tap water. When I lived in SC, they constantly had warnings in the paper about the high chlorine levels in the tap water, and you could tatse it. It was gross. That's when bottled water became an essential for me.
So what do you do when you're in a siutation like that?

As for preferences, I used to prefer room temp., but since this pregnancy began I've wanted it cold. At least chilled. But no ice!

  6. Just curious . .. what do your children drink? Soy or rice milk?

  7. My kids only drink water with the occasional orange juice for breakfast. They love water! One time I got the boys pink lemonade at a restaurant and they asked for water instead! Maybe that's because it was pink??? ; )

They are not milk drinkers, but they get rice milk on cereal and in other foods that call for milk!

  8. How funny, ALL of our drinking glasses are recycled Pom jars! Although sadly we will not be bying their products until they shape up a bit: http://www.peta.org/feat-pom.asp

  9. Hmm... makes sense. Our water is horrible here, sometimes when I get done with my shower I smell like chlorine. I end up gettin dehydrated when I drink tap water because I don't drink enough. And now they're adding more fluoride to our city water.

Do you have any links to comprehensive water filter comparisons?

I drink water chilled in a glass with a straw. :o)

  10. I am so bad at drinking water. The thing is it has to be ice cold, and I'm so bad at keeping ice in the freezer!! Sad but true!! Have you heard of Voss water??? Google it! It's the coolest bottle!! I would so buy one against my pledge just have the cool GLASS water bottle!! (if I could find one anywhere, that is)

  11. I don't know much about water filters and comparisons, etc. Someone look into this and let us know!

  12. I'll do this when I get a moment. I've been crazy busy this week.

  13. I am horrid at drinking water! Poor little one probably gets Dr Pepper flavored mommas milk. So reading your link, tomorrow I will try and drink at least 4 glasss of pure untainted water!

  14. Hmmm, I recognize your choice of drinking glass as I have a few of those in my own home ;-)

Just stopping by after seeing your comment at Walk Slowly, Live Wildly and your blog name caught my eye. I can tell that I'll be bookmarking you and will be back as it looks like we've got a lot in common.

    Best Wishes!

  15. We have nasty water in our city and we've been told it's NOT safe to drink (it tastes horrible), so we too, buy bottled water. I usually drink it room temp and always keep a bottle by the bed and while I teach. Otherwise, I'm not very good at drinking enough of it. I still get pretty thirsty nursing this time around. It is an unquenchable thirst at times!

  16. Ds used to be a good water drinker. Then he had some bug and we had him drinking Gatorade. (we were told that was better at fighting dehydration than water, and just as good as Pedialyte). Since then, I have a hard time getting him to drink JUST water.
We always diulte everything, but I fear for his teeth and sugar intake. We really need to work on this.

Your comment is gonna totally make my day!
