Has Anyone Seen My Fork?

I must say that my life's adventures are more enjoyable because of Carter. He definitely has a zest and passion for pretty much everything.

During lunch at a restaurant the other day he
casually asked us, "Has anyone seen my fork?"

Crazy how utensils can go missing when you've
never left the table. Such is life with boys!

At the grocery store I forgot my sling (I should put this in the tips somewhere- never forget your sling.) Normally I could've just put Gray in the cart's seat but he was asleep and I really needed to go into the store. So, I balanced sleeping baby & the cart while Carter was my big helper getting things for me off the lower shelves and even out of the freezer aisle!

When we went to pay, I realized that Gray was missing a shoe. The bagger was so nice to search the store for us at one end while we took the other. No shoe, and no shoe in the parking lot or van either.

When we got home it was waiting for us all alone on the kitchen floor, of course.

P.S. Turns out my sling was in the diaper bag the entire time, too... Another tip- remember where you put your sling.

I unloaded the groceries and put things away for a bit, then it was time to go get Noah from school.

Carter stomps one foot to the ground, arms folded in front of him, "I've
had it with all this leaving!"

Yeah, me, too. Has anyone seen my nap?

  1. Ok, this story made me feel really tired. HA! And I am cracking up that your sling was in the diaper bag the whole time. How typical is that for a mom????

One time Mark pulled his shoe off and I found it between the broccoli and baked beans.

And trust me, I get the same complaints from Matt about my errand running.

  2. Life with little kids can feel so weirdly hectic! Slings are NECESSARY! I don't know how anyone mothers without them!

  4. One of those days where you seem like you're jumping over one hurdle and than another. It gets to be almost funny! My middle is the same one. He also loves to stay home and just play. The more we go out the more he will say "I'm tired of getting in the van . . . "

  5. Oh no... I think if I got to the store without my one and only baby carrier, I'd run screaming from the store. ;)

I hope you got that nap!

  6. How cute. :-)
So often I think my son is so relieved to be out of the house for the day, but once we're finally home, he sighs one of relief! It seems to always be a happy reunion with his toys.

  8. Oh, it's so hard to hold a sleeping child and push a cart!

Carter is so cute! So many times I have looked and looked for something only to find that it was right under my nose the whole time!

All of our naps are missing! I blame it on Swiper the Fox!

  9. Oh Carter, I'm with you. I'm tired of leaving too. But I don't think it would be quite so cute if I stomped my foot.

  10. This post truly summarizes a day in the life of a mom. But even in all of the craziness, the best part is that our kids always say or do something to make us smile. And in this case, Carter made me smile too! Hope you find that nap this weekend! ;)

  12. OK, I feel bad because I took a 2 hour nap with my 2 year old today. And it WAS heavenly!! It is easy to get frustrated in situations like you had, but it sounds like you did GREAT with what you had. So good job. Maybe this weekend your husband will watch the kids while you take a doze.

Hey! And I can't seem to leave a comment on Lori's blog. Is there something wrong with it, or is it just me?

  14. I'm looking for my nap too! I think Sam stole it. I feel like I've done the - sling/insert any object I really really need - in the bag thing all too often.
