And you might not even know why they are sticking out at the moment, but the hairs on your arm stand up and you just know.
This happened to me on Sunday, and during a reading of Psalm 23 of all things! I mean, come on. That's such an easy set of verses. I already know what it says.

But it was new to me that day.
At the very beginning I read this:
Psalm 23:3
He restores my soul.
I glanced at the same verse in my Message Bible, and this stung my heart and lifted my tired shoulders:
Psalm 23:3
True to your word,
you let me catch my breath
and send me in the right direction.
At that very moment in time, these were the exact words I needed to hear, and didn't know it. But He did. 'Cause He knows me best.
I guess I just thought this Psalm is for beginners, or funerals! I felt like I was listening to the 23rd Psalm for the very 1st time. I read through the rest of that Psalm and felt every word hug me and cause tears to burn my eyes.
Is it really that easy? Yes, it is.
I'm just starting Beth Moore's Daniel, and today was just amazing. Just what I needed to hear. God is so good!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love when that happens, and it can't happen often enough for me. I am searching and pressing in right now and so long for that experience at this time. Can't wait for it to happen again!
ReplyDeleteIt's so wonderful when that happens and you just know!
ReplyDeleteOn God's Word can do that!!! :) He is so good!
ReplyDeleteThank you {{wiping tears}}. I needed that more than you know.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing how God reached out and touched your heart. Every mom should have those verses posted somewhere in her house as a reminder that God is in control. That we are doing His work by raising our children, even when we're exhausted and exasperated.
ReplyDeleteThat happens to me sometimes. But usually, I start crying too. Like I can't control it - I want to, but can't -- very powerful. I'm so moved by something. A song, a line in the sermon, a verse.
ReplyDeleteI've heard that's the Holy Spirit taking over.
It's so awesome how He talks to us when we don't even know we need it. What a great reminder why we need to be in His word -- sometimes He writes them just for you. Have a blessed weekend!
ReplyDeleteI believe that thats what happens when God speaks to u :)
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful

oh I love it when that happens! we were just talking about that tonight with friends how sometimes you read a passage you have read a million times and all of a sudden it jumps out and grabs you! really cool! and I SO want to get the message, I love my ampliphied but want that one too!
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog this morning!
ReplyDeleteThere really is so much meat in Psalm 23. I love the version that the message gives. Wow.Now I want to go read it!
I love your blog. You have a very sweet spirit.
Isn't it amazing when that happens? You can be reading a certain passage that you've read tens of hundreds of times and it seems new, it jumps out and then you realize it's just what you needed that day.
ReplyDeleteI'm like some of the others, tears start flowing, I get really emotional.
So glad you got to experience this feeling again :)
Huge hugs,
Sandra
I really needed this today. Thank you for sharing it with us.
ReplyDeleteThose are such wonderful moments. I had a moment a little bit like that this weekend at a funeral service. I wrote about it on my blog. Check it out when you can.
