Paper or Plastic?

Shopping with the kids has its pros & cons…

When the kids are with you, it doesn’t look as strange when you talk to yourself, like when you are going over the contents of your cart, reading off your shopping list, “What else do we need? Are we out of eggs? We almost forgot bananas!”

Of course, going solo is a wonderful escape and you can get in & out much more efficiently. Plus, I don’t have to worry about the baby eating my coupons or the bigger boys asking for every little thing.

Borrow one or two small animals (goats are best) and take them with you as you shop at the grocery store. Always keep them in sight and pay for anything they eat or damage.

P.S. I prefer paper... what is UP with Wal-Mart bagging your groceries and giving you one plastic bag per ITEM!? Their bags are overtaking my house!

  1. Plastic bags are overtaking my house as well. I try to reuse them often, but they NEVER GO AWAY!! I know WalMart has a bin to recycle plastic bags as you enter the store, but I always forget them (and I avoid Wal-Mart at all costs). :-)

  2. I KNOW - when I arrive home I'll find a carton of OJ in a plastic bag...a box of Easy Mac in a plastic bag...a can of beans in a plastic bag...a pack of GUM in a plastic bag...

What happened to efficent packing??? HA! :-)

  3. After my trip to Wal-Mart last night, I might be avoiding that place at all costs for good, too! Don't get me started! Maybe I'll save it for another post!

  4. Ha! Goats! No joke!!! Our Safeway does the bag thing, too! Last time I counted when I got home: 19 bags, 14 items. Oh yah... they are geniuses.

  5. Have you seen the dvd "Walmart, The high cost of low prices"?
I try not to shop there unless I can't find it elsewhere. I give their gift cards because everyone registers there.

  6. Grocery shopping alone is my favorite outlet lately. I don't do it often, but it's a nice get away. Walmart is bad about bags. If I only have like 3 or 4 things I actually tell the clerk...please put them in the same bag...unless it's chemicals and food. OH...and whats with them tying the handles together??? Makes it so much harder to carry....can you say annoying much...LOL. Kristen

  7. LOL I know that feeling. My children ask around the whole shop. Can we get a treat. Can we get a treat. In the I end up saying. "Yes if your good through shopping". lololol

  8. I laughed at the talking to yourself thing...How true!
