Plenty of Room

We have plenty of room in our ‘small’ house! People are always curious how we fit a family of 5 comfortably in our 3 bedroom home (about 1250 sq ft not including the basement) and we work it out just fine. Hey- we even think we can fit at least one more!

The baby sleeps with us, the boys share a room- they have bunk beds (Noah on the bottom, Carter in a toddler bed still) and the extra bedroom downstairs is a much-needed play room. But as you can see from the picture- we don’t even need all that! I checked on N. & C. last night and found Carter’s bed empty, and Noah’s bed quite full.

  1. "At least one more"? Are you making an announcement here?

  2. Hey, you're doing good! We've got a family of 7 in 1320 sq ft, and only three bedrooms! Our almost 5 acres is our "basement".....you do what you gotta though, you know?

I always try to keep my bulging house in perspective: I have a friend who is one of 12 and they lived in a 2 bedroom shack with no running water or bathroom. I'm doing good!!

It's all in how you look at it, right?

  3. We have 5 of us in just under 1100 square feet and no basement. People always make comments about how small our house is too. It doesn't really bother us though. We just have to get creative with storage and try to stay organized. Less house means less to clean to me. :)

  4. Shannon: No announcement here! Gray is only 7 months still, so we still have a baby! (Altho Noah was 7 months old when we found out we were pregnant with Carter!!) Anyway, we DO know we are NOT done yet. That's all!

Kelly: We'll probably STILL be here when we are a family of 6+ and I think we'll do JUST fine! : )

Nicki: Yes- I say that, too- "Less house to keep clean!"

  7. Eli's mom: Thanks- it was quite sweet, I love it that they love each other so much! And of course I didn't wake them up- I just let them sleep like that!

P.S. As soon as I remember to bring my debit card down here to the computer I will contribute to your Breast Cancer Walk.

Everyone else reading this, go to Eli's Mom's blog and help if you can, too!

  8. well, we recently got a futon bunk bed set for the two youngest boys. And you know what? They are on the futon (bottom) TOGETHER every night. Sweet? yes, it definately is that. ;-)

  12. We are a family of seven in a 1100-sq.ft. 3 bedroom, no basement. I definately get encouraged thinking of all the house I don't have to clean. I need to think on that a little more when house fever comes around!!
