O Christmas Tree

The tree has been up for over a week now, at the insistance of the kids.

Only unbreakable ornaments adorn, due to the mischieviousness of the kids.

Multi-colored lights shine brightly to the amazement of the kids.

Two or more ornaments hang from the same branch, because of the helpfulness of the kids.

Stuffed bears ride in glittery sleighs among wrinkly-wrapped presents under the tree; so much fun for the kids.

The sorry old artificial tree, holes gaping & crooked branches- all unnoticed by the kids.

Christmas is wonderful, exciting, and new again each year, thanks to the kids.

  1. I need to adopt your philosophy! Between the cats and the baby (mostly the cat)I'm ready to call Christmas quits! I just need to give in and take the breakables down! :-(

  3. We haven't decorated yet. I've ALWAYS had a real tree, but have come to realize it might not be such a good idea with a busy 15-month old around. So nothing has been done yet... maybe this weekend!

  6. Our Christmas tree - which goes up a week before Christmas - only has ornaments on the top half. Very festive.

  7. Well, we got rid of our tree in the move and while we put up other Christmas decorations, we don't even have a Christmas tree! The kids don't seem to have noticed yet. Maybe we'll get one soon.

  8. Very nice tree! I love colored lights, especially when the kids are so little.
When you mentioned only unbreakable ornaments...it made me think of last year. We wound up putting our tree in the playpen to keep ds out of it! (not this year, though) It was much easier, though probably not the best thing to do.

  9. Your tree looks great!

The kids helped us decorate this year and some of the branches have several ornaments on them. I love it though.

  10. Two or more ornaments hang from the same branch, because of the helpfulness of the kids. My kids, who are teens, still do this :)

It's so fun to have your kids help, and seeing their little excited faces, I've said it lots of times, making memories rocks. Christmas is truly magic.

  11. We will be getting our tree tomorrow, pending the weather. We currently have 8 inches of snow. And we usually cut our own tree down in our area. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how ambitious we're feeling.

  12. I always put my tree up the day after Thanksgiving....so not having one yet is REALLY bothering me. I think I'm having a hard time getting into the Christmas spirit because of it. It just doesn't feel like the holidays yet.

  14. I hadn't had "real" ornaments on the tree for the last 13 years. Just last year I dared to put some on since my baby's now 5 1/2. I still don't have a tree up... I need to get busy I guess.

  15. Miller just looks at the tree...he has (keep in mind he is 1) pulled the skirt out a couple of times...but only because Madison (who is 9) provokes him...I know she will be a politician one day...I know this!

  16. I wish I still had the totally amazed, excited feeling that children have surrounding Christmas. Those feelings have been replaced with the anticipation of watching the childrens eyes light up when they see the tree, and the gifts.
Hope you have a beautiful holiday season Steph!

  17. Thanks for the tip of the "Shatterproof" balls! What an awesome invention...didn't know they existed, but we got some (and some sanity too!)...

    Merry Christmas!
